A Love Like The 90's.

Poetry doesn't always needs to rhyme,
If it tells a story,
And here’s mine.
I have never been in love,
Not with a person for sure,
But I know myself,
And I am a hopeless romantic,
Looking for a love so sweet,
So cheesy,
I want a love like the 90s
I want to love you like the 90’s
Like the old catchy songs,
Like the rose tucked in my hair,
I know it sounds so cliche,
But oh my I want to love you like the 90’s.

Like your oversize shirt,
And a bandana in my hair,
Like that puffed up hair,
While we sit in the wind,
You with your guitar and sing,
In a voice so pure,
Notes unmatched but beautiful to hear.
Like those crazy dance moves,
No one could resist.
Like the Monica to your chandler.
Like the shy smiles,
When our eyes meet.
For eye contact seemed more intimate than a kiss on your lips.
For eye contact is a lovely thing,
Dangerous but good god so lovely.
The first glance we shared,
For it set my soul on fire.
I know this sounds too cliche but I want to love you like the 90’s.
Like the first letter you wrote,
Oh i still have it somewhere safe.
Oh how beautiful it was,
For the letter had your essence,
Your touch ,
Your presence.
I don’t want the late night texts,
I want to love you the old fashioned way,
Oh the sweet nothings,
Is what I crave for,
Talking while we watched the sunset is what I ask for
I want the love so sweet,
I want to love you like the 90s
For it was a love so innocent,
A love so deep,
A love so real.
It was not based on something as temporary as beauty,
It was beautiful in itself.
Oh I look around and think maybe I was born in the wrong era,
Cause I guess I am just a old soul seeking for love.
I want the grand gestures and the little things,
I don’t want your pick up lines,
I miss those days when a poem was meant to make one smile.
Oh how do I say this,
My love may sound so cheesy but I know it’s real.
I want to love you like the 90s,
Like the picture of yours that I have in my pocket and not the one that disappears in 10 seconds.
I want the love where you look at me,
And smile like an idiot.
Like the way you practice a hundred times,
Before approaching me to speak,
And not just swoop in my DM’s with a Hi and heart emoji,
I swear it’s creepy.
Like the secret little randevous,
We had at the tea stalls,
After we left from school,
Hoping to see your face soon.
I don’t know when did love fade away,
When did we take something as beautiful as love and wrapped it into something so twisted.
I am a hopeless romantic ,
And I don’t regret,
I know I’ll find an old soul,
Just like me out there,
And then I will say,
It’s you,
It’s you whom I want to love like the 90s.
